One of the oldest folklore ensembles in CZ
The folklore ensemble Danaj, founded 65 years ago by the legendary personalities Slávek Volavý and Jan Loutchan, is a proud bearer and maintainer of folk traditions. Since its inception, it has been dedicated not only to presenting folklore, but also to preserving it and passing it on to future generations.
Dulcimer music
Collaboration with Krepina's dulcimer music is an essential part of our performances - it harmoniously combines dancers, singers and music into a unique experience that draws the audience into the world of folklore through all of our traditional musical instruments.
Erudition and professionalism
Thanks to the professional knowledge of the leaders and their lifelong approach to folklore, we offer an authentic and precise representation of folk culture with respect for our traditions. As a company, we cooperate with leading choreographers in the country and are constantly improving ourselves in order to present our folklore at the highest possible level.
Dancing and singing in folk tradition
Our endeavor is to convey our folk culture in its authentic form, where dance and singing are an inseparable part of folk tradition. At every performance of the Danaj ensemble, the audience will experience the connection of dance and live singing, which gives the performances authenticity and fidelity to the original folk art.
Enthusiasts of "our" folklore
We try to focus on the folk traditions of Strážnice and the surrounding area, where all members live. Thanks to living in this region, we understand the local folklore and try to convey it as faithfully as possible. Our performances reflect the authentic life in the Slovak region, which we want to preserve for future generations.
Connecting generations and traditions
Although the ensemble is mainly made up of young people, the connection of generations is key for us, ensuring that our traditions remain consistent and faithful. The Danaj ensemble is thus an open community of people of all ages who share the same love for our folklore. We can benefit from the experience, knowledge and skills of older and former ensemble members.
